Somerford Hall is an exceptionally well-run Wedding venue - I can't speak highly enough of their professionalism and untiring helpfulness! I play there throughout the year and I'm very pleased to be closely associated with them on the music side. It's lovely to be able to play the piano on the Terrace at Somerford - the music creates a natural 'garden party' atmosphere and is ideal for the pre-Reception drinks. The Hall itself provides a lovely visual backdrop but also makes for excellent acoustics: no supplemenmtary sound equipment needed here! During winter months I can play indoors and create a lively and cheerful atmosphere with up-tempo music, maybe 'swing' - I can play to suit most tastes in music. Music for the Wedding Breakfast can reflect any style but should certainly be quiet and relaxed to begin with. Conversation is no problem - piano music is the chosen accompaniment for most stylish venues! I do like to leave the piano from time to time and take requests from guests. I visit one or two tables at a time, have a quick chat and can usually play something someone would like to hear! This provides gentle entertainment for guests as well as refreshing the music when I start playing again. If you choose to have my Roland slim-line grand piano, this would be placed in the Ballroom and could possibly be used for the Wedding Ceremony, Wedding Breakfast and during the evening. A separate piano would be used for the pre-Reception drinks, either in the Blue Sitting Room or outside. These practical details need discussion as guest numbers and table arrangements are very important!
